Welcome to 2 J’s Auto Transport, one of the leading auto transport companies serving Bangor. We offer affordable nationwide auto transportation service. Auto transport should not be complicated. As a federally licensed auto transport broker (MC# 799000, USDOT# 02349019), we handle carrier dispatch, route coordination, insurance verification, and regular shipment updates across Bangor and nationwide. From the first quote through final delivery, we manage every part of the process.
Bangor is the hub for everything north and east of Augusta: the Penobscot Valley, Downeast Maine, Mount Desert Island, and Aroostook County all funnel through it. Fewer carriers run this far up I-95 than into Boston or Portland, so planning ahead matters more here, and we build that into every Bangor quote.
If you’re shipping your car for the first time to or form Bangor, don’t worry. Here’s a complete guide on how to transport a car. This guide is created to educate you about the methods of car shipping.

Joyce was amazing to work with from start to finish . My daughter was moving alone from Las Vegas to Chicago and the dates were constantly fluctuating. Joyce was so patient with me , understanding and empathetic to our needs . She made us feel like family . We used Sherpa years ago , and her customer service and communication was way beyond Sherpas ( and they gave excellent service as well, but Joyce blew them out of the water ) The price was competitive with the other carriers , but it really was her personality and customer service that sealed the deal . I would highly recommend using 2 Js auto transport over any of the more popular auto transporters. I spoke to atleast 5 other carriers before choosing 2js transport ( they were highly recommended by my brother , he used in past to get a car from California to Florida ) and I’m so glad we decided to use them . It was seamless and again the open line of communication was exceptional ! I can’t say enough great things about the whole process other than I would pick them hands down over any other carrier !Posted on Google![]()

Joyce and John are such a pleasure to work with. There are a lot of scams in this industry and thankfully this is a family owned company where they actually take care of you like you’re part of their own family. I would highly recommend using their services. Vehicle was picked up and delivered when they said it was, and it was delivered in perfect condition.Posted on Google![]()

This company is very professional and had great communication. I was a little nervous about transporting my vehicle for the first time but they stood behind everything they said they would and followed through from beginning to end. They were very fairly priced amongst competitors, readily available anytime I called or had questions and they were extremely helpful. I would use them again in a heartbeat. Much thanks to 2Js!Posted on Google![]()

Are you looking for auto transport service in Bangor? Let's get in touch with 2 J's Auto Transport.
Bangor is a key transportation and commercial hub in northern Maine, serving as a gateway between the state’s rural regions and the Northeast’s main interstate corridors. Its vehicle shipping demand is seasonal and distinctive: snowbirds heading to Florida each fall, summer residents arriving for Bar Harbor and the lakes each June, University of Maine students in Orono, and medical staff relocating to Bangor’s regional hospitals.
Bangor is well-connected through several major highways:
I-95 (primary north-south corridor): Bangor’s lifeline to the rest of the East Coast. I-95 runs south through Waterville and Augusta to Portland (about 130 miles) and Boston (about 240 miles), and north to Houlton and the Canadian border (about 120 miles). Almost every long-distance carrier reaches Bangor on I-95.
I-395 (east to Brewer): Crosses the Penobscot River from I-95 to Brewer and connects to US-1A and Route 9, the main routes toward Downeast Maine.
US-1A (southeast to Ellsworth and Bar Harbor): The main road from Bangor to Ellsworth (about 27 miles) and Mount Desert Island. Summer traffic on US-1A is heavy from late June through Labor Day.
US-2 (east-west): Runs west through Hermon and Newport toward Skowhegan and central Maine.
US-202 (southwest): Runs through Hampden toward Augusta.
Route 9 (“The Airline”, east to Calais): Connects Bangor to Washington County and the New Brunswick border.
Route 15 (northwest to Greenville): The main route to Dover-Foxcroft and Moosehead Lake.
Traffic in Bangor is generally light to moderate compared to larger cities. The busiest spots are Stillwater Avenue and Hogan Road near the Bangor Mall, the I-95 and I-395 interchange, and US-1A on summer weekends.
Downtown Bangor: Older streets around Main Street, Exchange Street, and the Kenduskeag Stream are narrow and hilly, with limited room for a full carrier. Carriers typically stage on a wider street or a nearby lot. We confirm the exact staging point for your address at booking.
Stillwater Avenue and the Bangor Mall area: Wide commercial roads and large parking lots right off I-95. The easiest staging area in the region and our default meeting point for many rural pickups.
Outer Ohio Street and Broadway: Main corridors on Bangor’s north side with good carrier access. Side streets are residential and may need a nearby staging point.
Hogan Road: Commercial corridor near I-95 with easy carrier access.
Brewer: Across the Penobscot River via I-395. Wilson Street (US-1A) has good carrier access.
Hampden: South of Bangor along US-1A and US-202 with I-95 access. Good carrier access on main roads.
Hermon: West of Bangor on US-2 with I-95 access. Rural roads with some longer driveways.
Orono: Home to the University of Maine, about 8 miles north on I-95. Campus-area streets are tight, so carriers typically stage near the I-95 exit or a commercial lot.
Old Town and Veazie: North of Bangor along I-95 and US-2. Good carrier access on main roads.
Holden and Eddington: East of Brewer on US-1A and Route 9. Rural roads, some gravel.
Ellsworth and Bar Harbor / Mount Desert Island: About 27 miles (Ellsworth) and 47 miles (Bar Harbor) southeast via US-1A. Island roads are narrow and summer traffic is heavy, so we often stage in Ellsworth.
Dover-Foxcroft and Greenville / Moosehead Lake: About 35 and 75 miles northwest via Route 15. Camp roads are often unpaved and not carrier-friendly, so we coordinate a meeting point on Route 15 or in Bangor.
Houlton and Aroostook County: About 120 miles north to Houlton and 160 miles to Presque Isle via I-95 and US-1. Fewer carriers run this far north, so we allow extra lead time or arrange a Bangor meeting point.
Augusta and Waterville: About 75 and 55 miles southwest on I-95. We serve both as part of the Central Maine carrier market.
| Route | Distance | Est. Delivery Time | Est. Shipping Cost |

| Bangor to Hartford, CT | 340 mi | 2–3 days | $475–$700 |
| Bangor to New York, NY | 460 mi | 2–4 days | $650–$950 |

| Bangor to Dallas, TX | 2,000 mi | 5–7 days | $1,300–$1,700 |
| Bangor to Phoenix, AZ | 2,800 mi | 7–9 days | $1,500–$1,950 |
| Bangor to Los Angeles, CA | 3,150 mi | 8–10 days | $1,600–$2,100 |
Estimates are for a standard sedan on an open carrier. Enclosed transport runs 30-40% higher. Delivery times include the pickup window, which is often longer from Bangor than from larger cities because fewer carriers run this far north.
Carrier frequency at the top of I-95: Most carriers running the Northeast turn around in Boston or Portland. Fewer come as far as Bangor, and fewer still continue into Aroostook County. That means pickup windows from Bangor are often a few days longer and per-mile rates a bit higher than from southern New England. Booking 1-2 weeks ahead gives us time to place your vehicle with a carrier already heading north.
Maine to Florida snowbird season: Eastern Maine sends a large number of cars south every fall. Demand on the Maine to Florida lane peaks from October through early December for southbound shipments and from April through May for northbound returns. Prices rise in those windows, so book 2-3 weeks ahead.
Summer residents (Bar Harbor, Mount Desert Island, and the lakes): Seasonal homeowners on Mount Desert Island, around Acadia National Park, and at Moosehead Lake and other inland lakes ship cars in for the summer in late May and June and back out in September and October. These dates overlap with heavy tourist traffic on US-1A, so we often stage Bar Harbor pickups in Ellsworth.
Winter weather (November through March): Heavy snow, ice, and nor’easters can delay pickups and deliveries by a day or more. Maine’s road salt and sand are hard on finishes, so enclosed transport is worth considering for classic, luxury, or collector vehicles in winter.
Spring road posting (mud season): As the ground thaws in March and April, MaineDOT and many towns post weight limits on local and rural roads to prevent damage. Loaded car carriers often cannot use posted roads during this period, so rural pickups around Bangor typically move to a meeting point on a main road until restrictions lift.
Rural roads, gravel driveways, and camp roads: Much of the region around Bangor is rural, with long gravel driveways and unpaved camp roads a full carrier cannot safely use. For these addresses, we set a meeting point on a paved main road or in a commercial lot in Bangor, Brewer, or Ellsworth.
University of Maine and Husson University: Move-in in late August and move-out in May create short demand spikes around Orono and Bangor. Book early if you are shipping a student’s car around those dates.
Regional medical center relocations: Bangor’s hospitals, including Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, serve most of northern and eastern Maine and bring in physicians, nurses, and travel medical staff from across the country. These relocations are a steady source of long-distance shipments in and out of Bangor.
We pride ourselves on exceptional service and transparency in an industry where both can be hard to find. As a family-owned company founded in 2012 by John and Joyce, we offer 24/7 customer support, on-time pickup through a vetted carrier network, regular shipment updates, and transparent pricing with no hidden fees. The carriers we dispatch know Bangor: the longer pickup windows at the top of I-95, snowbird season on the Maine to Florida lane, summer moves to Bar Harbor and the lakes, spring road posting, rural and camp road meeting points, and winter weather planning. Whether you are in Maine, New York, Florida, Texas, California, or anywhere else in the U.S., we offer competitive pricing and dependable service.

2 J’s Auto Transport is a federally licensed auto transport broker (MC# 799000, USDOT# 02349019). We do not own the trucks or employ the drivers. We dispatch from a vetted network of independent FMCSA-compliant carriers across the U.S. For Bangor, that means finding a carrier already making the run up I-95 into Maine, timing snowbird shipments to Florida, coordinating Bar Harbor and lake-season moves, arranging meeting points for rural and Aroostook County pickups, or sourcing an enclosed carrier to keep winter salt off a collector car. Every carrier we dispatch carries FMCSA-required liability insurance, and we also require active cargo insurance as our own vetting standard, verified before each job.

I recently used 2 J’s Auto Transport to transport my car across the country, and I couldn’t be happier with the service! From the very beginning, the team was professional and responsive, answering all my questions and providing a detailed quote with no hidden fees. The pickup was smooth, and they kept me updated throughout the entire process. My car arrived in perfect condition and even ahead of schedule! The driver was friendly and handled everything with care. I highly recommend Joyce and John for anyone looking for reliable and efficient auto transport services. They truly exceeded my expectations!

I buy and sell construction equipment all over the US and always go to 2 J’s for long distance transport. They are able to find excellent rates on partial loads within a day or two. The drivers they send are always very professional and helpful. I’ve received quotes from other dispatchers and sometimes drivers offer their services directly, but they can rarely offer compete with 2 J’s pricing or timely service.

You guys were awesome. Picked up on time, dropped off on time as promised. I was returning customer. I had used their service a year and a half back. They were good at that time and this time too they were fantastic. I was fortunate to have got an enclosed truck for the price of open. Seems they had a truck passing on my dates and they gladly put me there. Thank you, John. Thank you, Joyce. I would highly recommend their services.
