Registration timeline: New Georgia residents have 30 days to register their vehicle after establishing residency.

Title Ad Valorem Tax (TAVT): Georgia uses a one-time Title Ad Valorem Tax instead of a traditional annual property tax or sales tax on most vehicles. The rate is currently around 7% of the vehicle’s fair market value, paid at the time of titling including for vehicles brought in from other states.

Emissions testing: Required only in the 13-county metro Atlanta area (including Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, and Gwinnett counties). The rest of the state does not require emissions testing.

Plates during transport: You don’t need plates to ship a car. We can transport vehicles with no plates, expired plates, or out-of-state plates.
