2 J's Auto Transport

Georgia Auto Transport Company

2 J's Auto Transport is the top-rated car shipping company in Georgia, offering the fastest and easiest way to ship your vehicle to or from Georgia.

Step 1 of 3 - Destination

Welcome to 2 J’s Auto Transport — a family-owned auto transport broker with 13+ years of experience moving vehicles in and out of Georgia. We specialize in open carrier shipping, enclosed auto transport, RV transportation, heavy hauling, and shipping of operable and inoperable vehicles across all 50 states. Georgia is one of the most important logistics hubs in the entire Southeast Atlanta sits at the intersection of four major interstates, and the Port of Savannah is one of the busiest container ports on the East Coast.

Georgia sits at the crossroads of the Southeast’s busiest freight corridors. Four major interstates converge in the state: I-75 runs north–south from Tennessee through Atlanta to Florida; I-85 cuts diagonally from Alabama through Atlanta toward South Carolina; I-20 handles east–west traffic from Alabama through Atlanta to South Carolina; and I-95 runs the Atlantic coast through Savannah. This density of interstate connections makes Atlanta one of the most important logistics hubs in the entire country.

The Port of Savannah is one of the busiest container and auto handling ports on the East Coast, processing hundreds of thousands of imported vehicles every year. If you’ve imported a vehicle through Savannah, we coordinate direct port pickup. Atlanta’s role as a national air and ground transport hub Hartsfield-Jackson is the busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic keeps carrier traffic constant through the state, which generally keeps Georgia shipping rates competitive.

At 2 J’s Auto Transport, we ship to and from Atlanta, Savannah, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, Athens, Roswell, and across the state, including corporate relocations into Atlanta’s Fortune 500 hub and student moves for UGA, Georgia Tech, and Emory.

Auto transport shouldn’t be complicated. From the first quote through final delivery, we handle every part of the process dispatching carriers, coordinating pickup and drop-off, managing documentation, and providing direct support whenever you have a question. For Georgia shipments, that often means navigating Atlanta’s notoriously heavy traffic for metro pickups, coordinating port pickups from Savannah for imported vehicles, planning around hurricane season for coastal Georgia, and timing student vehicle moves for UGA, Georgia Tech, and Emory. We’ve been doing this since 2012, and our Georgia experience shows up in the details.

We’re a federally licensed auto transport broker, bonded by the FMCSA and operating under USDOT regulations. Every carrier we dispatch in Georgia carries active cargo insurance verified before each job. We understand Georgia’s specific requirements: the state’s 30-day vehicle registration window for new residents, Georgia’s title ad valorem tax (TAVT) on vehicle purchases and out-of-state vehicles being registered, and the emissions testing requirement that applies only in the metro Atlanta counties. Whether your vehicle is in Atlanta, Savannah, or a small town in south Georgia, we handle the logistics correctly the first time.

To make things easier for our customers, we’ve shared insights on city-specific transport regulations through a series of detailed guides. These cover everything from car shipping laws to vehicle transport rules in Dallas, TX, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orlando, FL, Houston, and Miami. Each article breaks down what you need to know before moving a vehicle in or out of these major cities, so you’re always informed and ready.

Across more than a decade of Georgia auto transport work, we’ve built our reputation on three things: clear quotes with no hidden fees, on-time pickup and delivery, and direct human support whenever you need it. We’ve coordinated thousands of vehicle shipments in and out of Georgia from UGA, Georgia Tech, and Emory students moving home for the summer, to corporate relocations into Atlanta’s Fortune 500 corridor, to families shipping vehicles to and from Savannah’s historic district and coastal communities.

Popular Auto Transport Routes from Georgia

These are the routes our Georgia customers ship most often. Distances are approximate from Atlanta. Transit times are typical estimates, exact pricing depends on vehicle type, season, and carrier availability. Contact us for a current quote.

  • Georgia to Florida: ~450 miles, typical transit 1–3 days. Very high volume year-round, especially with snowbird traffic each fall.
  • Georgia to California: ~2,200 miles, typical transit 6–9 days. Steady year-round demand.
  • Georgia to Texas: ~800 miles, typical transit 2–4 days. Strong corridor.
  • Georgia to New York: ~870 miles, typical transit 3–5 days. High demand.
  • Georgia to North Carolina: ~250 miles, typical transit 1–2 days. Quick turnaround, high carrier availability.
  • Georgia to South Carolina: ~150–250 miles, typical transit 1 day. Same-day pickup often available.
  • Georgia to Tennessee: ~250 miles, typical transit 1–2 days. Reliable route.
  • Georgia to Illinois: ~700 miles, typical transit 2–4 days. Common Midwest corridor.
  • Georgia to Arizona: ~1,800 miles, typical transit 5–7 days. Steady demand.
  • Georgia to Virginia: ~550 miles, typical transit 2–3 days. Strong demand on I-85/I-95.

For the reverse direction (shipping TO Georgia), Florida-to-Georgia and South Carolina-to-Georgia see high regional volume, while corporate relocations into Atlanta drive consistent inbound traffic from across the country.

Georgia Seasonal Shipping: What to Expect Throughout the Year

Georgia’s climate and traffic patterns affect auto transport timing differently depending on which part of the state you’re shipping to or from.

Winter (December–February): Generally mild and one of the more affordable shipping windows for Georgia. Occasional ice storms in north Georgia (including the Atlanta metro) can briefly disrupt carrier schedules, but conditions are far milder than in northern states.

Spring (March–May): Reliable shipping conditions throughout the state. Severe thunderstorm season picks up, particularly in north Georgia, but rarely causes significant delays.

Summer (June–August): Peak general moving season drives higher prices statewide. Hurricane season begins in June and runs through November — coastal Georgia (Savannah, Brunswick) can be affected by tropical systems during this window.

Fall (September–November): Hurricane season remains active through November, with the Georgia coast occasionally affected by storms tracking up from Florida. By October, snowbird traffic moving south through Georgia on I-75 toward Florida increases significantly, this is one of the busiest north–south corridors in the country during this season.

Georgia Vehicle Regulations to Know Before Shipping

Georgia has specific vehicle regulations that affect timing and cost when shipping a car in or out of the state. We’re not lawyers, always confirm details with the Georgia Department of Revenue Motor Vehicle Division but here’s the practical overview.

Registration timeline: New Georgia residents have 30 days to register their vehicle after establishing residency.

Title Ad Valorem Tax (TAVT): Georgia uses a one-time Title Ad Valorem Tax instead of a traditional annual property tax or sales tax on most vehicles. The rate is currently around 7% of the vehicle’s fair market value, paid at the time of titling including for vehicles brought in from other states.

Emissions testing: Required only in the 13-county metro Atlanta area (including Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, and Gwinnett counties). The rest of the state does not require emissions testing.

Plates during transport: You don’t need plates to ship a car. We can transport vehicles with no plates, expired plates, or out-of-state plates.

For full regulatory details, visit the Georgia DOR Motor Vehicle Division.

I buy and sell construction equipment all over the US and always go to 2 J’s for long distance transport. They are able to find excellent rates on partial loads within a day or two. The drivers they send are always very professional and helpful. I’ve received quotes from other dispatchers and sometimes drivers offer their services directly, but they can rarely offer compete with 2 J’s pricing or timely service.

You guys were awesome. Picked up on time, dropped off on time as promised. I was returning customer. I had used their service a year and a half back. They were good at that time and this time too they were fantastic. I was fortunate to have got an enclosed truck for the price of open. Seems they had a truck passing on my dates and they gladly put me there. Thank you, John. Thank you, Joyce. I would highly recommend their services.

Car Transport Services in Georgia (GA)

Choosing an auto transport company in Georgia comes down to a few practical questions: Is the broker properly licensed and bonded? Are the carriers they dispatch insured and verified? Are there hidden fees in the quote? Will the pickup happen on the date promised, or will it stretch by days?

At 2 J’s Auto Transport, we’ve built our Georgia operations around answering all of these correctly. Our quotes include every cost upfront. We dispatch only vetted, FMCSA-licensed carriers. And because Atlanta is one of the busiest freight hubs in the Southeast, our average pickup window in the metro is among the fastest in the region typically 1–3 days from the requested date.

Whether you’re transporting a car to or from Georgia, we provide a smooth and stress-free process: free quote, confirmed pickup window, regular status updates during transit, and door-to-door delivery.
