I-84 through the Snake River Plain generally stays open but sees ice and snow. I-90 through the panhandle gets regular snowfall. Build in 1-2 extra days for winter shipments.

Central Idaho remoteness The Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness (2.3 million acres, largest contiguous wilderness in the lower 48) means central Idaho has virtually no road infrastructure. Communities like Stanley, Salmon, and Yellow Pine are extremely difficult for carriers to reach. Sun Valley luxury market Ketchum/Sun Valley attracts wealthy seasonal residents who ship luxury and exotic vehicles for ski season (December–April) and summer (June–September). Enclosed transport is standard for this market. SH-75 is the only route in not interstate-grade, but well-maintained.
