2 J's Auto Transport is the top-rated car shipping company in New Hampshire, offering the fastest and easiest way to ship your vehicle to or from New Hampshire.
2 J’s Auto Transport is a federally licensed auto transport broker with 13+ years of experience coordinating vehicle shipments across all 50 states, including New Hampshire’s southern population centers and its more geographically complex northern regions.
New Hampshire is a compact state under 9,000 square miles but its geography creates meaningful differences in carrier access between the south and north. I-93 is the primary north-south corridor, entering from Massachusetts at Salem, running through Manchester and Concord, and continuing north toward the White Mountains. I-89 branches northwest from Concord through Lebanon and Hanover (home of Dartmouth College) into Vermont. I-95 serves just 16 miles of New Hampshire’s Seacoast in the southeastern corner, connecting Portsmouth to the Massachusetts and Maine borders.
Southern New Hampshire (Manchester, Nashua, Concord, Portsmouth, and the Seacoast) has strong carrier availability given its proximity to the Boston metro and the heavy freight traffic on I-93 and I-95. Northern New Hampshire is a different logistics situation. Franconia Notch State Park presents the most significant carrier constraint in the state: I-93 narrows to a two-lane parkway through the notch, and large commercial vehicles including most car carriers are prohibited from driving through. Carriers serving communities north of the notch (Lincoln, Franconia, Twin Mountain, Bethlehem, and beyond) must use alternative routes through Crawford Notch on Route 302 or around the mountains entirely, adding time and coordination to every northern NH shipment.
We’re a federally licensed auto transport broker (MC# 799000, USDOT# 02349019), dispatching from a vetted carrier network where every carrier carries active cargo insurance, verified before each job. We serve Manchester, Nashua, Concord, Portsmouth, Dover, Rochester, Keene, Lebanon, and every New Hampshire community including rural and northern areas where carrier logistics require advance planning.
Shipping your car to or from New Hampshire for the first time? Here’s a complete guide on how to transport a car.
I-93 (primary north-south corridor): Massachusetts border at Salem north through Manchester, Concord, Plymouth, and into the White Mountains. Carrier density is strongest between Salem and Concord this stretch benefits from Boston metro freight traffic. North of Concord, carrier frequency thins. North of Plymouth, I-93 enters Franconia Notch State Park where large vehicle access is restricted (see Franconia Notch section below).
I-89 (northwest to Vermont): Concord west through Grantham and Lebanon to the Vermont border. Serves the Dartmouth College area and the upper Connecticut River Valley. Moderate carrier traffic on the Burlington, VT corridor.
I-95 (Seacoast, 16 miles): Portsmouth south to Massachusetts, north to Maine. Despite its short length, this is one of the busiest commercial freight stretches in New England. Portsmouth and the Seacoast area have excellent carrier access as a result.
I-293 (Manchester loop): Connects I-93 around Manchester. Useful for Manchester metro pickups.
Route 16 (eastern NH, north to White Mountains): Portsmouth north through Dover, Rochester, Conway, and North Conway to the White Mountains. Key route for the Seacoast to White Mountains corridor. Well-maintained but not interstate-grade, allow moderate extra lead time for White Mountains pickups via this route.
Route 101 (east-west, southern NH): Manchester east to Exeter and Hampton Beach/Portsmouth area. Important connector for the southern tier.
Northern NH (Routes 3, 302, 2): North of Franconia Notch, carriers use Route 302 through Crawford Notch or Route 3 through Colebrook to reach the Great North Woods. Very limited carrier density in this region.
Manchester: New Hampshire’s largest city. I-93 and I-293 access. Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) (one of the largest university enrollments in the country) generates consistent student vehicle shipping demand. BAE Systems, Segra International, and a growing healthcare and tech sector drive corporate relocation demand. Strong carrier availability with same-week pickup windows typical.
Nashua: New Hampshire’s second-largest city. Route 3 and I-293 access near the Massachusetts border. Significant high-tech and defense sector presence (BAE Systems, Anheuser-Busch, Broadcom). Many residents commute to Boston, making Nashua one of the most active NH markets for vehicle shipping tied to regional relocations. Strong carrier access given Massachusetts border proximity.
Concord: State capital. I-93 and I-89 junction. Moderate carrier availability. New Hampshire state government employees relocating to and from Concord are a consistent demand source.
Portsmouth / Seacoast (Dover, Rochester, Exeter, Hampton) I-95 and Route 16 access. Portsmouth is NH’s only seaport and a thriving historic city with strong real estate demand. The Seacoast corridor including Dover, Rochester, Exeter, and Hampton Beach, benefits from I-95 carrier density. University of New Hampshire (Durham) is nearby on Route 108 and generates seasonal student shipping demand around May and August. Strong carrier availability throughout the Seacoast.
Keene: (Southwest NH) Route 9 and Route 12 access. Keene State College adds some seasonal student demand. No interstate access, allow extra lead time versus Manchester. Moderate carrier availability.
Lebanon / Hanover: (Upper Valley) I-89 access. Dartmouth College in Hanover generates consistent student vehicle shipping demand around academic transitions. Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is a major employer and drives healthcare sector relocation demand. Good carrier access on I-89.
Lakes Region: (Laconia, Meredith, Wolfeboro) Route 3 and Route 11 access, no direct interstate. Lake Winnipesaukee drives significant seasonal vehicle shipping demand from second-home owners and summer residents, primarily from Massachusetts and Connecticut. Peak demand is May through June (start of season) and September (end of season). Allow extra lead time versus Manchester for Lakes Region pickups.
White Mountains: (North Conway, Conway, Lincoln, Franconia) Routes 16, 302, and I-93 (south of the notch) access. North Conway is the primary carrier hub for the White Mountains, Route 16 access from Portsmouth provides the most reliable carrier route. Lincoln and Franconia are south of the Franconia Notch restriction and accessible on I-93. Communities north of the notch require routing through Crawford Notch (Route 302) or alternate mountain highways. Allow 24-48 hours additional lead time for all White Mountains pickups. Summer (July-August) and ski season (December-March) create demand spikes for seasonal residents and resort workers.
Great North Woods (Colebrook, Pittsburg, Lancaster): Northern NH near the Canadian border. Route 3 is the primary access road, no interstates anywhere in this region. Very limited carrier density. Allow 72+ hours additional lead time and contact us before booking. A meeting point on Route 3 south or I-93 south of the mountains may be required depending on your exact location.
Representative ranges for standard open transport from the Manchester area. Portsmouth and southern NH are similar. Northern NH and remote areas carry additional lead time and potential surcharges.

Franconia Notch State Park Parkway: the most important NH carrier restriction This is the single most important logistics fact about auto transport in northern New Hampshire. I-93 through Franconia Notch State Park narrows to a two-lane scenic parkway, and large commercial vehicles (including most standard car haulers) are prohibited from driving through. Any shipment originating north of Franconia Notch (Lincoln, Franconia, Bethlehem, Twin Mountain, Littleton) requires carriers to route through Crawford Notch (Route 302) from the east or around the mountains entirely via Route 3. This adds hours to transit and requires advance planning. If your pickup is north of the notch, contact us before booking so we can confirm the right carrier and route.
No state sales tax AND no state income tax: New Hampshire is one of only a handful of states with neither a state sales tax nor a state income tax. This makes it an attractive destination for relocations from Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York, particularly for people who can live just over the border and work remotely or commute. This relocation demand is a consistent driver of vehicle shipping into New Hampshire, especially into the Manchester, Nashua, and Seacoast corridors.
White Mountains seasonal demand: The White Mountains attract both summer visitors and winter ski resort guests. Ski resorts including Cannon Mountain, Bretton Woods, Loon Mountain, Wildcat, and Attitash draw seasonal workers and second-home owners who ship vehicles for the season. Peak demand windows are November through December (ski season start) and May through June (summer start). Book 2-3 weeks ahead for White Mountains shipments during these windows.
Lakes Region seasonal demand: Lake Winnipesaukee is the primary summer destination in New Hampshire, with Laconia, Meredith, Wolfeboro, and Weirs Beach seeing heavy seasonal traffic from Massachusetts and Connecticut second-home owners. Vehicle shipping demand peaks in May and June as seasonal residents bring vehicles up and in September as they return. Laconia Motorcycle Week in June is the nation’s oldest motorcycle rally and creates temporary demand for motorcycle transport.
University shipping (UNH, Dartmouth, SNHU, Keene State): New Hampshire has multiple colleges generating predictable seasonal demand. University of New Hampshire (Durham) and Dartmouth College (Hanover) are the primary sources, with move-in and graduation windows in August and May. Southern New Hampshire University (Manchester) has massive online enrollment but also a physical campus with demand. Book 2-3 weeks ahead during academic transition windows.
Nor’easters and mountain snow (December-March): Northern New Hampshire receives some of the heaviest snowfall in New England, Mount Washington holds numerous wind and weather records. Nor’easters can close mountain passes and restrict travel on Routes 302, 3, and 16 for 24-48 hours. Even southern NH on I-93 sees significant winter weather. Build 2-3 extra buffer days into winter shipments, particularly for anything involving northern NH or mountain routes.
New Hampshire vehicle regulations:
| Route | Approx. Distance | Typical Transit | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| NH to Boston, MA | 55 mi | Same day | Highest-frequency route from southern NH |
| NH to Maine | 95 mi | 1 day | I-95 north, quick turnaround |
| NH to Vermont | 175 mi | 1 day | I-89 west corridor |
| NH to New York City | 260 mi | 1–2 days | I-93 south to I-95 |
| NH to Connecticut | 200 mi | 1–2 days | I-93 south, strong corridor |
| NH to Philadelphia, PA | 360 mi | 2–3 days | I-95 south |
| NH to Washington, DC | 500 mi | 2–3 days | I-95 south, good availability |
| NH to Florida (Miami) | 1,600 mi | 5–7 days | Top snowbird corridor, peak Oct–Dec |
| NH to Florida (Orlando) | 1,450 mi | 5–7 days | Snowbird and relocation route |
| NH to Georgia (Atlanta) | 1,200 mi | 4–5 days | Growing route |
| NH to Illinois (Chicago) | 1,100 mi | 4–5 days | Midwest corridor |
| NH to California (LA) | 3,100 mi | 8–10 days | Cross-country, steady demand |
For inbound routes, Florida-to-NH sees the highest snowbird return volume in spring (March-May). Massachusetts-to-NH is a constant high-frequency short corridor.
2 J’s Auto Transport is a federally licensed auto transport broker (MC# 799000, USDOT# 02349019). We don’t own trucks or employ drivers, we dispatch from a vetted network of FMCSA-compliant carriers. Every carrier carries active cargo insurance, verified before each job.

Joyce was amazing to work with from start to finish . My daughter was moving alone from Las Vegas to Chicago and the dates were constantly fluctuating. Joyce was so patient with me , understanding and empathetic to our needs . She made us feel like family . We used Sherpa years ago , and her customer service and communication was way beyond Sherpas ( and they gave excellent service as well, but Joyce blew them out of the water ) The price was competitive with the other carriers , but it really was her personality and customer service that sealed the deal . I would highly recommend using 2 Js auto transport over any of the more popular auto transporters. I spoke to atleast 5 other carriers before choosing 2js transport ( they were highly recommended by my brother , he used in past to get a car from California to Florida ) and I’m so glad we decided to use them . It was seamless and again the open line of communication was exceptional ! I can’t say enough great things about the whole process other than I would pick them hands down over any other carrier !Posted on Google![]()

Joyce and John are such a pleasure to work with. There are a lot of scams in this industry and thankfully this is a family owned company where they actually take care of you like you’re part of their own family. I would highly recommend using their services. Vehicle was picked up and delivered when they said it was, and it was delivered in perfect condition.Posted on Google![]()

This company is very professional and had great communication. I was a little nervous about transporting my vehicle for the first time but they stood behind everything they said they would and followed through from beginning to end. They were very fairly priced amongst competitors, readily available anytime I called or had questions and they were extremely helpful. I would use them again in a heartbeat. Much thanks to 2Js!Posted on Google![]()

I buy and sell construction equipment all over the US and always go to 2 J’s for long distance transport. They are able to find excellent rates on partial loads within a day or two. The drivers they send are always very professional and helpful. I’ve received quotes from other dispatchers and sometimes drivers offer their services directly, but they can rarely offer compete with 2 J’s pricing or timely service.

You guys were awesome. Picked up on time, dropped off on time as promised. I was returning customer. I had used their service a year and a half back. They were good at that time and this time too they were fantastic. I was fortunate to have got an enclosed truck for the price of open. Seems they had a truck passing on my dates and they gladly put me there. Thank you, John. Thank you, Joyce. I would highly recommend their services.

Yes. Manchester is New Hampshire’s primary transport hub with I-93 and I-293 access. Carrier availability is the strongest in the state, with same-week pickup windows typical. Door-to-door service is standard throughout the Manchester metro and surrounding communities.
Franconia Notch State Park narrows I-93 to a two-lane scenic parkway where large commercial vehicles (including most car carriers) are prohibited. Any pickup or delivery north of Franconia Notch requires carriers to route through Crawford Notch on Route 302 or around the mountains on alternate highways, which adds transit time and requires advance planning. If your origin or destination is north of the notch (Lincoln, Franconia, Bethlehem, Twin Mountain, Littleton, or farther north), contact us before booking so we can plan the right route and timeline.
Yes. North Conway and Conway are accessible via Route 16 from Portsmouth and are the most carrier-friendly White Mountains entry points. Laconia and the Lakes Region are reachable via Route 3 and Route 11 from Concord. Allow 24-48 hours additional lead time versus Manchester for both areas. For ski season (December-March) and summer peak (June-August), book 2-3 weeks ahead as seasonal demand tightens carrier availability.
All FMCSA-licensed carriers are required to carry liability insurance. Every carrier we dispatch also carries active cargo insurance (our vetting standard, verified before each job. This is not a federal requirement) it is 2 J’s own standard. Coverage details are available on request. Your personal auto insurance may also cover the vehicle during transit.
